Brushes

I used the Cimex on industrial gluedown and a low pile tan nylon last night.
Of the two nylon brush types, the softer of the two did not hold up.
The stiffer of the two did hold up.
I'm curious how much life I can expect out of the stiffer brushes.
Thanks.

The soft brushes are not a good choice for commercial carpet. They're too soft! They are a good choice for oriental rugs, or a soft carpet- i.e. residential. The firm shampoo brushes will work great on commercial. And they should last a very long time! The firm brushes should be broken in before cleaning carpet by running them on wet concrete for about 15 minutes.

I prefer the pads for commercial carpet. The pads make more surface contact and they dispense the detergent more evenly so less product is used. But this is a matter of personal preference.

Hi Rick,I e-mailed you from the UK last week.
Thanks for the reply. You state that you prefer to use pads as opposed to brushes with the Cimex. Tell me, does this mean that you are continually changing the pads as they soil whilst dispersing the encapsulator.
If so, then wouldn't this slow down the process considerably as compared with the brush operation.
Thanks again

Gordon,

The pads that are used are hog hair/synthetic type pads that are used mainly in the hard floor industry. These pads are similar to the white pads used under rotary machines to scrub waxed floors. However the ones for the cimex are softer. The pads do not absorb the carpet contaminents, however they do disperse the cleaning agent well. They also provide an excellent scrubbing action. They last from 12,000-18,000 sq ft per a pad set (depending on carpeting types)so they are very economical.
