The scoop on pads

Rick, I know you are a busy man, so maybe one of your cimex warriors on the board can answer my question:

What is the performance difference between white pad, red, hog hair etc..?

And on a really trashed commercial grade Olefin would the stiff brushes be more advisable than a pad?

Greenhorn,

Most cimex users just use white hoghair pads. Any ruffer and you run the risk of doing carpet damage due to the higher RPM the pads turn at. Also using pads or brushes seem to be a personal preferance more then anything else. I have found that the brushes do not distribute the solution as well when feeding thru the machine. Also the brushes seem to leave the carpet in a more disheveled state, whereas the pads seem to even the carpet out more.
The brushes also do not foam up the cleaner as much which might lead to overapplication of cleaner in an attempt to obtain a visible foaming action. However some high/low pile carpets clean up better with the brushes.

Depending on carpet types and soil levels--most of the time I go for the pads.

Jeff,

There’s not a huge scrubbing performance difference between white, red or hog-hair pads. So far I have tested white, beige, tan, red, peach, hair/blend, aqua, and blue-ice pads. I also sampled a coconut-fiber/blend pad, and also a coconut-fiber/walnut-shell/blend pad. The Puff pads seem to be the best performer that I've looked at yet.

Here's why I had originally chosen to go with the hair/blend pads. The hair/blend pad is an "ultra-high speed" burnishing pad. UHS burnishing pads are constructed with a strong binder that imparts added strength to the pads. Strength was one of the main reasons for choosing the hair-blend pads. We don’t want a pad that shreds on the carpet.

The Puff pads are designed "for carpet". They're sturdy, and they disperse detergent very smoothly. It looks like they clean as well as the other pads. So far, the Puff pads have impressed me.
