I'm building a ramp and wonder how long it should be.

Seems like about 5' long and about 20"-24" wide.

Any thoughts on this Rick, and others. I don't want it to be too steep.

Thanks,
steve

Ramp

I built a ramp for my portable and I will tell you what I did: Took a pair of old bed rails and loped those hook things on the ends off, cut a board of equal length and bolted the rails on and then welded on a couple center braces and painted it with some no slip paint. You can use this sucker in pooring down rain with no risk of a slip and fall what so ever.

Brian,
That sounds like a sturdy ramp. If a bed can take all that weight and bouncing, should be a snap to hold a Cimex, LOL.

It depends on how high your truck is. My Chevy is 1/2 ton so it's lower than my 3/4 ton Ford.

I bought a pice of 2'x4' 3/4" pre-cut plywood at Home Depot. Then I attached the steel end brackets that I had fabricated at the welding shop for $20. Total cost was about $30 for a very strong and portable ramp.

Here's what it looks like...

Thanks Rick,
Nice idea and pics.

Rummaging around my old stuff I found a 6' long metal wire shelf that may be the ticket. Only problem is it is 18" wide and the Cimex wheels just barely fit. I may end up making one like yours Rick. Do you know how long yours is, Rick?
