Smell

Last night I got a call from that restaurant in NJ that I cleaned with SV and my Cimex. He said that ever since I cleaned it there has been this smell by the waitress station. now I cleaned it like the rest of the restaurant except this staion is seperated by a small wall but plenty of ventalation. Now I called him about 2.5 weeks ago and he was happy and had no complaints and it been almost a month since I cleaned this place. I have to go Friday to NJ to see what it is, but if any of you have a suggestions please help me out.

I did nothing different then normally, and I think they did some kind of work there because I remember seeing sheetrock dust on the floor in the corner in that area.

If there’s a sink at that waitress station, that could be the problem. They might be getting a small amount of sewer gas coming out somewhere. Check to see if the work they had done was plumbing related. That could be the source. Just a thought.

Good suggestion Dave. It could also be a rodent problem. If there are mice or rats (dead or alive) in the ceiling, walls, or behind the waitress station the smell would be pretty noticable.

Thanks, I didn't think of that. I thought it could of been the SV but the rest of the place apparently doesn't smell. They said ever since I cleaned it but these guys are probably looking for someone to blame. I guess it's all part of the restaurant business.

Ha ha.

Hey, our place stinks. Yeah, wait, didn't we have a carpet cleaner in here about a month ago? Yeah, he musta put some stinky putrid stuff down in our carpets near our pristine wait station and it's finally worked it's way up to our nostrils. Let's go after him!!! Yeah!!!

How is a smell, carpet related?
Like it's your fault or something?
Some people have the nerve.

We had the same problem with one of our restaurants one time. They also had a smell by there waitress station. Turns out they had a small water leak. So we microbaned it, dryed it and recleaned it. Turned out great, like Steve said the try to blame us first without investigating the matter.......

I went there yeaterday and I really didn't smell anything except for fish. They had about 10 or 12 pitchers of water in the waitress stand. I don't know what caused the smell but I have to go next Friday to clean the restaurant again. I will then investigate further as everything will be removed.
