Using both HWE and Cimex--Which first?????

Hey you dirt swishing geniuses!!! I've got a question fer ya.

Some jobs that I would like to use both systems for brings up the obvious question: "Which first?"

For example, say ya got a car dealership. Showroom. Cubicles. Office areas. Etc. I'm thinking there's a lot of crud in edges and corners that would respond well to HWE wand cleaning. Also some spills and spots that would benefit from the HWE.

I'm thinking the best approach is to HWE first, getting all the dust, crud, detailing, spills, etc., then do the Cimex thing through the main traffic areas.

What's your take?

If it were me I'd skip the HWE and just use your Cimex. HWE on commercial carpet is risky. Wick-backs and browning! How many times have we heard about a commercial carpet cleaned with HWE that looked great right after it was done, and then it looked terrible the next day. I spoke with a cleaner at some length about a problem he was having with this at Winterfest. You mentioned using HWE on spills, encapsulation is a great method for spills.

But if you're commited to using HWE I'd recommend cleaning with HWE first. Then come back the next day and make the carpet look good with the Cimex. I don't mean to be dogging HWE, but my experience with it on commercial grade carpet has been less than stellar. That's why I went looking for something that would work better.

As Rick stated, the encaps would work fine on the main areas including the spills but if a good vacuuming will not get the edges and corners good then hwe those areas and proceed to encaps the rest. Sometimes where the Cimex does not reach I will take a spray bottle(encaps mix) and a towel and wipe it up that way but if that is not feasible or just too much area then hwe first and proceed with the Cimex.

Scrub and Rinse

If you use encapsulation, you should follow Rick's advice, and I think others here assume that you are encapsulating.

If you are no encapsaultating, scrub first with your Cimex, then rinse HWE; I've followed this approach with and without the Cimex, Clark buffers for instance, and the outcome is terrific.

Another added step if you really want to knock their socks off, use a pad cleaner as the third and last step; their carpet will be as close to showroom clean as the first day it was installed.
FYI: My first business ('70's) was named "Scrub 'n Rinse."

Hey Ed and all,
Yes, I was doing encap on the showroom after HWE. The results were very good and the owner and staff were thrilled.

I think this was a good way to clean this place. However, I think another good approach would be to use the TM to get all the edges and a dry vac of the walk areas. Then use SV or M and B to encap all the rest.

That's what I'm trying next.
