I don't normally provide post-vacuuming or grooming on any commercial carpets. That’s just the way that we do it. One exception: I have a group of stores that has a very thick cut pile (like residential) in a few of their stores. I will rake these carpets.

But for the normal commercial cut pile we explain that their routine vacuuming and foot traffic will smooth out the swirls. Many of my customers have commented on the attractive pattern that we leave behind (no kidding).

In one case recently, the president of a very large national retail chain was visiting some stores in the area that we service. In preparation for the visit the stores requested service right in front of the visit. I explained that the carpets would show swirls if we cleaned them right before the visit and urged them to have us service them a little earlier. They replied that they liked the appearance of the swirl pattern and they kept the service directly in front of the VIP visit. BTW they loved the carpet and the visit went off without a hitch.

I had just a comment about this. I will be running a pile lifter to get the marks out - commercial cut pile.

the addition of a cheap used counter rotating brush machine easily solves these problems, and it's fast.
no need to vac while damp, that's pointless.
