Today I had to clean a regular acct of mine. Not too dirty but I had to do alot of pile lifting. I did not want to drag the pile lifter and Cimex in so here is what I did. Took in a 2qt pump sprayer and sprayed the areas that needed it - then pile lifted all areas including the areas I sprayed. Now this is an acct that gets done 8 times per year so it is not trashed and I would not do this all the time. Had to pile lift alot because of salt all over the place.

Bob,

A word of caution... I fried a pile lifter vac motor running it on damp carpet, (also fried a Sanitaire commercial the same way). Vac motors do not like moisture! But you can probably disengage the vac motor on your pile lifter first, (mine unplugs) - in which case you should be okay.

another arguement for more tools in the chest. A GLS would be handy for jobs like that, I use an old Host machine, onlight soil, no problem and quick.
