A good day

March 1 2003 at 4:28 PM

Rick Gelinas

I just got back from the call center.
Cleaned 31K sq ft. We had 2 Cimex machines with two of my techs running them. And I was running a Chemstractor as a rotary method (made me very aware of how accustomed to the Cimex I've become - there's no substitute).

The facillity manager was there during the second half of the job and was very impressed. I was told about all the problems they've had in the past with other carpet cleaners. It's really not that hard to surpass the majority of the competition out there.

The bottom line: We arrived at the building at 8:45 and drove away at 3:45. We grossed $2170 I like to pay techs well when we hustle on a big job. So I'm paying my main tech $225 and my second tech $150. They're HAPPY! That leaves $1813 or $259 per hour for me (before supplies and operating expenses - which aren't that much).

It was a GOOD day!

Negotiating Pre-Vacuuming

March 7 2003, 5:11 PM

This account has a janitorial service that vacuums every night. So we made special arrangements with the management to have their janitorial crew perform a thorough vacuuming the night before the carpet cleaning. We made it absolutely clear that a slow and thorough vacuuming needed to be performed before we got there. The request was carried out. The vacuuming was done well. But we're also prepared to provide pre-vacuuming for our accounts. However in this case we arranged for them to do it when we negotiated the deal. It makes sense to have the janitorial service do the vacuuming where it's possible, since they're already paying the janitorial company for this service.
