Need a good edge brush.....

When using the Cimex I usually encounter some edges of carpet against the wall that the Cimex doesn't quite reach. I have used the CCS for this or HWE tools but I think it would be handy to have a bucket of Spin Vac solution with a brush on a handle to dip in the bucket and scrub some edges.

Is anyone else doing this? What brush have you found that works well?

Thanks,
Steve

Steve,

What I have used in the past is a pile brush and a squirt bottle. Spray the edge of the carpet, then go back and "groom" it in. It has worked OK, just a touch awkward.

What I thought would be cool was a drill, with an extension on it (3 ft) that had a small buffing pad on the end. The Cimex machine could have an in line plug recepticle put into the cord and you could just dip the buffing pad right into the shampoo tank to wet it.

Tony,
I think that idea has merit. I like the way you think.

I have a dream of making an edge cleaning tool that vibrates and uses cotton sleeve you slip over the vibrating crevice thingy. You could use it for edges on any kind of job. Also filtration soils by vents in residential. Kind of like padding with a vibrating thin thingy. Kind of hard to describe but you get the idea.

I wonder if the CImex could support pads that reach the edge better, too.

Hey, how's that pile brush working out?

Steve,

The pile brush works fine but can be too big for short or small areas. It has worked good for me. If the area is not bad I do the old texas shuffle-- I spray it with the SV then just run my foot across the carpet once or twice--takes the edges clean and gets those "dusty" edges sharp looking.

Here's a simple idea for cleaning edges...
Using a 3M Doodlebug and a white pad would be one simple alternative for cleaning the edges.

I use a brush I bought from a local janitorial supplier, it is a v shape and is made for edging.
It works great for scrubing along the wall and baseboards also great for getting into corners and stairs.
I thought about adding a tank like on some of thoes Swiffer like mops, running a tub down to the brush and fill with an encap product, I could feed solution and scrub at the same time.
