How many just use hat tap water?

Most of the time we just use tap water [ as hot as can get it] On heavy soiled jobs we use the pail heater to super heat the water. Have not seen big difference between the two methods, after all the cooling down effect of the water from the time you put it in the Cimex until the time you actually apply it to the carpet reduces the temperature to the point that it does not make a lot of difference. Others may disagree with this.

Don has a point about the cooling down effect. That's why we use the small 3 gallon buckets with a bucket heater. The water is steaming when we get started. I'll usually clean the worst areas with a fresh steaming tank of detergent - working my way toward less dirty areas as the detergent cools. Spin Vac seems to work well in any temperature - but there's a definite advantage to increasing the temp to the extent possible.
