R38 (15 inch Cimex)

I am just beginning my learning curve with my new R38, 15 inch Cimex. I have an oxyclean generator with it which can be used to deodorize and disinfectant.

I plan to use it in some residential work as the "wash" cycle and rinse with my truck mount.

I have chosen the 15 inch because of its smaller size and weight. I do not do a lot of commercial work at this time, but I think I could use the smaller Cimex for commercial work(if the job isn't too large), should the need arise.

Do any of you Cimex users have the R38? Could you share your experiences with it and any tips that would be of use to me?

Thanks

Roger,

I don't mean to burst your bubble, but the cimex is not well suited for residential. On the rare residential that it is trashed, using it as a scrubber will work, but it is time consuming so you have to be sure that you are getting paid enought to bring it out. Maybe you might be on to something, but in my limited use of the ozone machine with the cimex, I did not notice many tangible benefits of ozoning the cleaning product. The Cimex is very well suited for commercial, but the smaller unit will make for longer cleaning times verses the r48 unit.

With experimentation and trial and error you may be able to create a residential cleaning system with it-- if you do please be sure to tell me about it because I have been trying for months now. The biggest problem I keep facing is that residential carpet has a higher pile that hides too much stuff. Extraction or absorbtion of some kind has to take place for good results--IMHO. Don't let my comments deter you from trying as you may have a different technique or chems or process to clean with and may develop a killer cleaning system. But remember to share it with me Okay????

LOL

R38 as Scrubber on Residentials

April 10 2003, 11:36 PM

Tony:
I'm not sure of your procedure when using the R38 on residentials, but my intent is to use it as a scrubber to thoroughly "wash the fibers" and then extract with the truck mount. I do not intend to use it for encapsulation of cut pile carpet.

Yes, it will take more time, but I believe a quality cleaning does take more time and effort. I also think additional work produces higher income.

I follow up my truck mount cleaning with the CCS Conqueror with dry cotton pads. The carpets get drier and get a lot of extra soil absorbed into the pads.

As to the effectiveness of the ozone, I am going to have to experiment with this concept. I have been told it leaves the carpet smelling "fresher" and decreases chemical useage. I want to give the customer the choice of using the process.

Why did you buy the R38 instead of the R48?

Thanks for your input.

I'm confident that the CR38 can be used in the manner you described (it's smaller and lighter then the 19" model - about like a standard rotary machine). Plus it can be used to encapsulate moderate sized commercial jobs using a crystallizing encapsulator too. Keep us posted.

Roger,

I may of misunderstood your post a bit. As a two step process it is great. For encapsulation or stand alone cleaning of residential is what I thought you may of been using it for- and that is not so great.

I went with the large version for higher production commercial cleaning. I have an Rx20, so I really don't see the need personally to pull out the Cimex on jobs I encounter. I guess if one job was bad enough- then I would do so since I carry the Cimex on my truck. The Rx20 is my agitation and extraction piece of equipment.

Keep posting, sharing ideas and learning-- Cimex usage is increasing and with that will come new ideas and better processes for cleaning.

Thanks,
Tony
