Do you Pre-vacuum and if you do, what machines do you like?

I have found my way back to restarting my cleaning business after a four year detour. If these great forums were around, I might not have got lost. Thanks for your input guys!

I was wondering if you guys include pre-vacuuming with your commercial job quotes. Or do you offer it seperately? If you do pre-vacuuming, what machines do you recommend? Previously, my wife did the pre-vacuuming in a very detailed manner with an Electrolux upright (epic 3500, I think it was). This took as long as it took me to prespray (which I always did) and run the Cimex. She would get started while I mixed up chemicals and spotted the gum. Then I would go to work in the area she had finished, etc. We always did it this way and it never occurred to me to charge for each step. I had a hard time competing with companies that didn't include the same work we were in their "carpet cleaning" bids. So I want to do bidding better this time around. And I hope to find an easier way to do the pre-vacuuming. We're not getting any younger. So, what do you do and what do you recommend?

Thanks,

Hi David,

Welcome!

The majority of our accounts vacuum daily. So we don't normally need to vacuum.

However we have a very good commercial vacuum on each truck. And if the carpet is in need of vacuuming we provide vacuuming.

I don't charge extra if we provide the vacuuming. It's just an extra service that we give them. It's not going to break the bank for us.

I like the Bernina 6100C commercial vacuums. Strong suction! They have good bearings in the brush rollers. And they have HEPA filtration. They sell for over $400. If you're interested I know of a supplier who will sell you one for much less - contact me if you're interested.

Rick,

Do you no longer recommend the bacpacvac? Or is it used for other purposes?

I like the backpac vac too. This vacuum is about half as expensive though so it's simply more practical.

I think I'll detail vacuum instead of pre-vacuum

Thanks for your info. I think I'll detail vacuum the edges and entrys just to be sure. You're right, it won't take very long and I'll have peace of mind.
