I only tested two product Bridgepoint and Cobb.
I was very pleased with Cobbs product BUT Bridgepoint product dried slimey and gooey! It is still the same
way after 3 days! I will test some products this week
and when I am done i will rank them IMHO

Curtis,

I was disappointed with Bridgepoint's encap product too. As far as that goes - I never saw that Cobb's formed a crystal either - it remains sticky after it dries. A good crystallizing formula is hard to develop.

Rick,

You are right about Cobb's not crystallizing in a dish; however when a small amount is left behind, such as the amount left when we encapsulate, Cobb's is more easily removed than Spin Vac, Mist and Brush, or Crystal Dry.

As to the non-drying issue that you spoke of, I too found the same thing in the early formulation of the product. However Larry changed the formulation and now the product dries just fine.

I believe when you tested it, it was even called by a different name "Bonnet Cleaner". I suggest that you retest it now that it has been reformulated and is now named “Encapsulate”.

I repeat; it will not crystallize as some other products do in large quantities, but it is easier to remove from a surface, than some other crystallizing products, when it is left in a small quantity such as the amount we would leave when encapsulating.

While we are on the subject of crystallizing in a dish, have you ever tested Dupont’s encapsulating product “Resistech”? I have it from a fairly good source that, like Cobb’s “Encapsulate”, Resistech doesn’t crystallize in a dish either… If you have tested it, I would love to know your results.

Thanks,

Steve Smith
P.S. I am of the opinion that whether or not a product will crystalize in a dish is not NEARLY as important as how easily it can be vacummed from a carpet when left in a small amount from the encapsulation process.

Steve,

I've tested the original Cobb product as well as the new version that's called "Encapsulate". The newer version is a sample that I got at Winterfest. And although it's better than the original version that I purchased from Larry I'm still not sold on it. Now if he's got an even newer version than the two I've already tested I'd be happy to in take a look at it.

I haven't tested the DuPont Resistech product yet. It's hard to get. But like you, I've also heard that it's not a state of the art encapsulator - in spite of the fact that DuPont's using it heavily throughout the country. Of course, I'm only basing that on hearsay - so it's hard to know for a certainty just what DuPont has.
