Well we finally have Releasit.
It has taken more effort to get this product developed than I ever thought it would. But Releasit is now here and we're already shipping it, the first cases left this morning. I'm also offering a free sample if anyone would like a sample. Just go to the Sample page on the Releasit website,
http://www.Releasit.com.
Developing a new product has been exciting and scary all at the same time. It's been kind of a scary thing wondering if it's going to turn out according to plan. Here are some of the concerns that have been running through my mind...
Will the ingredients all work together as well as the formulation in my mind sees it? Will the detergent handle a soil load well? Will it have enough foam? Will it form a brittle crystal? Do we have the right amount of Tea Tree in the formula to freshen the carpet while cleaning? Will the manufacturer be able to deliver the final product as good as the beta versions? Will the labeling look as good as the proofs? ETC.
Well I ran the new product through a few paces and so far it has lived up to my expectations in all areas except for the labeling. The silk screener had some problems and the labeling isn't perfect. Not such a big deal. I'm disappointed that they're not perfect, but I've been assured that the next order should turn out better.
As far as performance goes... Releasit cleans as good or better other encap products I've used. So I would rate it’s detergency as very good. Foaming is quite adequate, although it's not an overly foamy product.
The Tea Tree smell is awesome. Releasit has a light clean, natural smell, not overpowering. It leaves a light clean scent in the carpet and in the room. Here's a description of Tea Tree's properties:

Another key component in Releasit that differentiates it from all other encap products is DuPont Zonyl. I felt that Zonyl could really help the formula. Here are some of the features of Zonyl from DuPont's website...
Reduced Dry Soiling
Many shampoos can cause a high rate of re-soiling after use due to residual surfactants left on the carpet or upholstery. The addition of ZONYL® to shampoos can reduce soiling in properly formulated shampoo. Field and laboratory evaluations of shampoos containing ZONYL® demonstrate a reduced re-soiling rate when compared untreated carpet and carpet shampooed without ZONYL as an additive.
Repellency
Depending upon the shampoo, ZONYL® will impart modest oil repellency to carpet or upholstery. Oil repellency an indication that oil-based stains will not be readily absorbed into the carpet or upholstery. This will enable oil-based stains to be cleaned easier when they first occur.
Cleaning
Although ZONYL® is not a cleaning agent, it can aid the overall cleaning process of the shampoo. ZONYL® will reduce the surface tension of water, which may aid in the wetting of textiles. Enhanced wetting may allow easier cleaning of the carpet or upholstery. Zonyl® fluoro-surfactants are far superior to non-fluorinated surfactants in wetting action, as well stability in harsh environments, both thermal and chemical. In most applications, these powerful surface-active agents are effective at very low concentrations.
Improved Re-cleaning
Carpets and upholstery that have been cleaned with shampoos containing ZONYL® clean easier on subsequent cleanings. Residual ZONYL® left on the carpet and upholstery aids in the cleaning of subsequent stains and soils.
So the bottom line is that I think Releasit will prove to be an EXCELLENT encapsulator! I’ve invested a lot of time and money into this product so I’m certainly hoping that it will be. I based the ideas for Releasit's formulation on what I've observed and learned from researching encapsulation and cleaning carpet with this method. And now as some of the cleaners begin to use Releasit I'll be anxious to hear what they think.
BTW I ordered 100 gallons on our first run (25 cases). We went through 9 cases in the first day so I just ordered 25 more cases. So we’re off to a great start.
I hope you all like it! Please keep me posted.
Thanks!
