on working stairs

I'm looking for something to work stairs, encapsulation, and thought that counter rotating brushes might do the job.
About the only thing I've found that might work is the
Koblenz. It's light enough, and about the right size.
But does it have the power needed to do a good job?
Has anyone tried one of these? If so, how did it work
out?

We use the the little Oreck Orbiter. It works great for us. They're available for $500 new. But shop around demo models are often available from Oreck dealers.

Stairs suggestion

Since I abandoned my Argonaut a couple of years ago,
I've been using a $50 Sears 10" orbital car buffer
for stairs. With regular cleaner, I use small cotton
pads. With an encap product, just substitute a piece
of synthetic bonnet (not absorbent) with the green
scrubbing stripes. Glue on some velcro to hold it in
place.

I've been using the car polisher method and it's not
bad. However, I'm always looking for something faster,
and the counter rotating brushes idea seems that it
might be faster than the Oreck buffer - counter
rotating pads would clean both side of the carpet
fiber. The picture is this - running the machine
across the step, turning the machine around and going
across it again.
Anyone tried this?
