Cimex post vac question

Hey Rick,
We cleaned a few thousand square feet of carpet with our new Cimex a couple weeks ago and had very good results. I notice that you recommend not vacuuming for 24 hours. We have one particular carpet that is a low cut pile commercial carpet and the manager doesn't want to see any swirl marks after cleaning. What we did was take off the bag of our sanitaire commercial vac and post vac while carpet was damp. I went back the next day to check it out and it actually looked like we had hot water extracted it. I just did the bedrooms in my house (which is a fairly cheap low density cut pile) and didn't post vac as I mentioned above. I think it would have looked much better to have post vac'd (w/o) the bag to remove the deep scrubbing marks. In you opinion does post vac w/o the bag have any affect on the encapsulation properties?

Thanks for your help
Jeff C

Jeff,

It looks like you have invented a new art form...
POWER GROOMING

I don't see anything wrong with your idea. But be careful. If the moisture blows past the vac motor it will be toast. I've fried two vac motors in this way. So be careful.

The Lindhaus Activa-CH vacuum cleaners actually have a feature that allows you to select running the vacuum with the brush roller on but without the vacuuming. If you're planning to continue this method you may want to consider this vacuum.

The POWER GROOMING idea is a cool idea.

We have been doing power grooming for several years in our maintenace programs. We use a pile lifter to groom after bonnet cleaning on all cut pile jobs.
For small jobs use a grooming brush to remove swirl marks, or get a small counter rotating brush machine to do your grooming, Windor has a small inexpensive unit that will do a great job.
Commercially, cut pile carpets are almost a thing of the past.
P.S. yes we need to replace the odd vac motor in our pilelifters, but it is easier than grooming with a brush

Thanks guys for you help. It's not something we'll probably be doing on a regular basis as most of the carpet is loop pile. But it sure makes a difference when you need it. The carpet was almost dry when we post vac'd so hopefully there wasn't much moisture taken into the motor. It may be better to just replace a vac motor every now and then.
Thanks again

Find a used power wand. Hook up a electric cord (you'll figure it out). Plug up hose. Presto - a cheap power rake.
