| Today I did a demo in a "Movie Pub" You eat and watch a movie at the same time. Lots of soda and food spills.
I did a section in the lobby which came out well.
We then moved into one of the theaters.
I did a whole isle and it came out very well, spills just wiped right out.
At the end of the isle was a pile of ketchup about the size of a small dinner plate. Maybe 3 or 4 days old. I told the owner I dont think this will come up but lets try it. I presprayed it and hit it with the machine.. after 5 passes the spot was gone.
I went back 6 hrs later and saw the owner and looked at the carpet. He was very impressed. Dry and clean
Got the job, 18,000 ft at .11/ft
What are some of you other guys charging per ft.

For cleaning like that .11 seems a touch low, but you know your market. That is harder work then most "standard" encap types job and you will use more cleaner then normal and spend more time going over spots so I would of done it for no less then .15 .

You got the work that a good thing not all jobs are gravy you will still make over $100.00 per hr.>Try to get in there by weekly to do traffic areas and spot clean something like up 500sf for $100.00 bucks or so should take less than a hour keeps you in front of them. I did bid a job today the lady din't even know who there cleaner was, don't let that happen! youl do fine however .15 is great don't work to hard. |

I think you did well. I've been bidding commercial jobs for about 8 years. As far as my area goes if I bid anymore than 12¢ a foot I can pretty much forget getting the job. Can't imagine getting 15¢ a foot commercially,....WooooHoooo that would be schweet!
If you can get that much more power to ya.
The best I get on a regular basis is a restaurant at 14¢. Most of the jobs I get are in the 9¢-10¢ range.

Perhaps it is in the way the bid is presented.
What I am thinking is this- instead of presenting a "cleaning" job, present it as a "Soil Encapsulation Cleaning with deodorants and soil retardants"- which as I see it is worth more than "regular cleaning".
So far, this has worked for me without any questions or problems. Superior is worth more.

If I bid 30,000 sq ft at 10¢ a foot that = $3000. Probably take 2 cimex machines about 7-8 hours(Sometimes less). Roughly $200 per hour, per machine. That's OK with me.
If another guy comes in and bids it at 15¢ = $4500. These big business are gonna look at the two prices and go with the $3,000 guy nearly everytime, no matter what we call it, or how we cut it. They will look at one as being 50% less than the other and go with it. Smaller business' might look at it differently, but the big Corps are all about saving a dollar. I can already hear the manager boasting about how much $$$ he saved the company on carpet cleaning. |
