Does Releasit reduce other soap residues?January 23 2004 at 10:42 AM |

| We have a prospect that has bubble bath on their carpet. Does anyone know if Releasit will reduce or eliminate foreign soap residues?
If it won't remove or eliminate the soap, will dirt resoil those sticky soap residues rapidly after encapping? And if so, what should we do if we don't have the option of using a steam cleaner to get it out?
I think I saw a thread similar to this in the past but I couldn't find it, sorry for asking again. |

Jim,
I do beleive that the Releasit will work to encapsulate the detergents to a certain extent. But it is sort of a vague answer not knowing what types of detergents are in the carpet. Sort of like someone asking you over the phone -can you get this stain out of my carpet?

Jim - sounds like a an experiment to me! I would give it a shot to start with as that could be a HWE nightmare! Keep us posted. |

Jim, if it's a small area have you thought of just using a spotting claw? Sprinkle the area with a powered defoamer them soak it down with water then extract it out with the spotting claw. If you don't have a small extractor you can get a small wet vac at Lowes or home depot for under $40.00.

Yes, Releasit is an excellent product for drying up sticky, soapy residue.
To see how this works for yourself:
1. Place 10 drops of Dawn in a small dish.
2. Mix in 30 drops of PURE Releasit with the Dawn and allow the mixture to dry... this may take a couple of days or so.
All stickyness will be gone completely... the Dawn will be encapsulated by the releasit.

Hi steve
This is very interesting that it will encapsulate the dawn, however in a real world situation would this be practical to use times the soap amount in releasit to do the job?
Just my 2 cents.

It's a no brainer, that it would impossible to measure out the precise amount of releasit to apply.
But wouldn't you agree that a product, such as releasit, that has the quality to dry up soapy residue will at least help in the real world?
By running a test yourself, as I described, it should take away any doubt as to whether releasit has such a quality.

Steve,
Thanks for taking the time to share your testing. This is a very thought provoking test indeed

thanks.
Just a thought for those who mentioned steam cleaning and defoamers to remove soap residue. First, I have found that the hotter the water, the more the residue foams and reduces your suction and drying ability, sometimes creating a terrible mess. Second, I have found that applying defoamer does not remove residue, it merely kills the foam. If you wash the foamy spot long enough after applying defoamer, you will find that the foam reappears eventually. But at least the defoamer helps you keep your suction up while rinsing. Still, in most foam situations, it takes forever to wash foam out with steam cleaning. That is partially why I wondered if encap would do it. Sounds to me like encap would be a far superior solution to steam. |
