teflon protection

Has anyone done a study that indicates the best time
to apply protectorant after encapsulation, that is,
while it's still wet, or wait a couple of days?

Protector can be applied after the crystallization has occurred and the carpet has been post-vacuumed.

There is some Zonyl fluorochemical in Releasit. It is in the formula for 4 reasons...
1. To aid in the release of the crystal from the fiber.
2. Lower surface tension of the detergent adds to surfactancy.
3. It increases the propensity to stop wicking.
4. It adds a degree of soil resistance.

As you can see from number 4 above, there is a small measure of soil resistance built in. However that is not a primary component. And it's not the same effect as using a Teflon application where a spill will bead up on the surface. So if you're looking for that level of protection you'd need to apply protector. And as I mentioned above, this should be done after the crystallization has occurred and post-vacuuming has been performed.

But keep in mind that there may not be as great a need for using a protector as you may be accustomed to. In just about all instances you'll see that the carpet will stay clean longer than what you have previously experienced. Additionally, there's not as great of a need for add-on protector sales in the commercial setting. So you may find that protector is not really necessary when you use this system.
