Non-Cimex Pads

March 11 2004 at 12:12 PM

I currently am using a 21" Tornado floor buffer and would like to know what type of pads to buy in order to use this machine for encapsulating.
Can I use regular floor scrubbing pads or is there special carpet scrubbing pads to use?
If there is special carpet scrubbing pads then where can I get them?

Ken you'd probably be best to stick with using a shampoo brush on your 21" machine. The pads create a fair amount of resistance, much more resistance than a brush generates (in fact that's why we use the pads). So you may likely blow circuit breakers using a pad on your large 21" machine.

What about a 17" Machine? I got some white pads and was going to try encapping on a few of my commercial jobs.

We sell LOTS of the 17" FiberPlus pads for encap cleaning with rotary machines and they work fine.

I have had good results with my 17 inch Chemstractor using the Fiber Plus pads. Residential and commercial both.

I suggest ordering a box of 5 of the FP pads.

So What's the difference between a white floor pad and the Fiber plus pads?

If you're referring to a standard white polishing pad, then what you're talking about is fairly different.

A white polishing pad is intended to be run under lower rpm machines. It's extremely soft. And it will shred pretty quickly on a coarse loop carpet i.e. Olefin. By comparison, a white pad would never hold up to the aggressive scrubbing action of the Cimex.

The FiberPlus pads are designed to hold up under heavier operating loads. They contain an elastomeric property that adds stability to them. They have an extremely high fiber content, as compared to other pads. And they're also a little more aggressive than a white pad, so they'll clean commercial carpets better.
