Coughing & sneezingMarch 11 2004 at 7:23 PM | Jerry Edsall |
| Has anyone else had this problem ?
I have been using releasIT for a few weeks now and love it, works great so far.
However, I may have to change to a different encap product as every time we use it, it causes me to sneeze and cough like crazy !! I like the fragrance, but something (tea tree oil ??) causes me and my helper to cough. So far we have only used it closed offices with no customers around, but I have a church tomorrow and am scared about getting a complaint about them coughing also....anyone else ever have a coughing problem. Any advice Rick ??
Btw, I'm using the DS releasIT as directed (4oz/gal of HOT water) |

| Use a coarse tip sprayer | March 11 2004, 10:06 PM |
I am sensitive to chemicals, and during the past 20 years I've encountered many different cleaning agents that will cause me to cough when they're atomized into a fine spray. Here's a solution that will keep you and your helper happy... Simply use a sprayer with a coarse tip.
Although I'm sensitive to chemicals, I don't cough when we use Releasit with a coarse tip sprayer. The sprayers that my carpet cleaning company uses are the 2 gallon ROUND-UP sprayers, available from Home Depot for $20. It's a terrific sprayer for its cheap price tag! They've got a fan tip that works perfect for spraying detergents onto the carpet. And the droplets are not atomized to the point that they can become an irritant.
A simple solution that works.

my current jet is a #8008
can you recommend a better specific one ?
Such a simple solution...never crossed my (simple) mind
Thanks, I figured you'd have a solution...and I did not want to have to change to a different product. |

Jet sizes always baffle me. Is it possible to just pick up the Round-Up sprayer at Home Depot? Cuz I know that'll werk fer ya.

I'm glad it's not just me...t-jets have always been my achilles heel also...lol, and an internet search doesn't help any either.
Guess there's just some things that will remain confusing
Thanks again Rick...will head to HD tomorrow. |

An 8008 is a pretty coarse jet. The first two numbers (80) indicate the angle of spray thw last two numbers (08) indicate the amount of water thin liquid that will pass thorugh the jet in one minute at 40 PSI expressed in tenths of gallons. i,e: 08 means it will pass 8 tenths of a gallon at 40 psi. Any clearer? |

Another reason I love the shower feed method of applying these products to the carpet. Most office buildings we do now are always occuppied by folks working split shifts or overtime and it is very important not to cause any form of discomfort to the staff.
We have a list of chemical sensitive people in our major accounts, we check to see if they are working overtime before cleaning any where near them, if they are in the building we record it in our log book so the building facility people will know why that area was not cleaned.
Using an 08 jet may be the exact opposite of what was posted earlier you may be using too much detergent, better yet try to get to a shower feed method and only pre spray those areas that the shower feed system can not reach. |

Since I added shower feed to my op not only has it kept any chemical from becoming airborn but I get better cleaning results also. |

| tea tree | March 16 2004, 12:08 AM |
Jerry, Our family is into natural cures etc.a lot. Found that a lot of people react to tea tree oil (allergic reaction). I know I sure do. Its a great flea killer on your pets but found so many people were having a reaction when they came near to there pet. Would be good to have a product with no scent. Most of our customers here now request fragrant free cleaners to be used. |

The tea tree extract is a minor ingredient, and there's not enough tea tree in Releasit at its diluted form to harm a flea
The response to the tea tree scent and the benefits it imparts to our formula merit its inclusion in Releasit. It's part of what makes Releasit the SPECIAL product that it is!

Rick, The sensetivity I have is not the usual. I worked around pesticides for 25 yrs. as did a lot of people in our area (agricultural) We work for the local clinic and a friend(doctor) of ours says that there are more people sensetive to even small amounts of fragrances than just a few years ago. thats why our company specializes in allergy problems. Have not tried releasit yet but when i do will let you know how it goes. Carl |
