| So... the other day I did a blue wool rug. Cleaned just fine. I did not look at the pad until today. I'm gonna do a residence. THEN I look at the working side of the pad. Fulla dark blue lint from the rug. Hmmm... will it come off on the carpet today? Nope. I turn the lint side up. AARRGGHH!! It LOOKS dirty, although it is not dirty.
I try to rub off or scrape off the lint. Nope. run under running water at the hose outside. Can't wash it off.
Any suggestions?

Yea, I agree...chunk it.
I have this phobia or whatever, no matter what size the job, I never reuse my pads. I always feel weird about bringing something dirty from one job to another, so they get trashed after each job, no matter how much "life" is left in them. It's wasteful, I know, but I'm just weird like that.
Sorry for not being more helpful, Big G. |

just an idea :
instead of throwing them out, what about running some kind of sander over them or holding them up to some type of belt sander for a few tics to "clean" them up when they are dry?
there are prolly other simiar ways to do this, but u get the idea.
maybe saving 10-30 pads, taking them home and running them for 5 sec's per side over your concrete patio / sidewalk....this should take the top layer or 2 off and clean it up good, no?
thanx --- Derek. |

Hold it and use it on your next commercial job, good chance nothing happens, I hear your concerns about using it on a residential job, specially something in the lighter shades. |

If trying to save the pads, I would run them when dry on some concrete to wear them off. Or you could try running a single edged razor across them and shave the fibers off.

Thanks for the input, guys. The pad wasn't dirty- I do rinse them out afterward, it was just unsightly because of the dark blue lint.
The simplest and easiest for me is to run it on concrete- in my garage- I will try that first, then go to other steps if needed.

Hah!! Nevermind. Today's job was a dark brown carpet. The customer had a long haired dog- Irish Setter- the carpet was FULLA red dog hair. AFTER vacuuming pretty thoroughly, and using that pad with the blue lint- which only came off when I ran the pad over the floor air register- there was SOOO much dog hair pulled out of the carpet, clumps everywhere.
Finished, I looked at the carpet side of the pad, where it did have blue lint showing, now it is FULLA red dog hair. Well, I am gonna toss it now, because for sure the next job will be a white carpet, and all that red dog hair will come off onto the white carpet, and I sure don't want that.

Good Morning,
This is just my 2 cents , for cleaning the pads , I stick them overnight in a bucket of hot soapy water and rinse the dirt, sand and lint out with a garden hose nozzle . The hot soapy water seams to help, and you should see how much sand and lint comes out.Its not uncommon to see the bottom of the bucket to have lots of sand and lint. This way I can reuse the pads and they are much cleaner for each job. |

HEY!! That's a good idea. I have not yet tossed that pad, still in the truck. I will try it- sounds good.
