Encapping furniture

The 3 chairs were all olefin - 1 velvet, 2 broadcloth. OK, not too soiled, I am gonna encap them. POW!! About 5 to 7 minutes each. Apply the Releasit with a quart bottle trigger sprayer, and run over it with the 7 inch Fiber Plus pad. Next is a nylon/cotton blend 3 piece sectional sofa. Will it work the same? I am gonna try one seat cushion. POW!! Quick, easy, and looked great. So... I do the rest of the sofa. Now, the Fiber Plus pad does not hang on well on compound curves of the arms and shoulders, so I switched to the regular cotton/rayon furniture bonnets, which hang on just fine to the US Products furniture roto I use.

OK, total time for 3 chairs, one otto, and a 3 piece sectional sofa, plus 5 throw pillows- 1 hour, 20 minutes.

They all looked great. Am I gonna give a big discount because I did them in quick time?

Nah. Clean furniture is clean furniture, and she had agreed to my price before I started.

I am gonna do this again!! WOOO HOOO!!

nicccccccccce!

Gary, lemme get the steps right in my mind :

1) test fibers for colorfastness with Releasit solution?
2) prevac.
3) spray & scrub Releasit solution.
4) done?

if so, i will just hand scrub the upholstery as i normally do with my bonnet mit....that should work as well, right?

thanx --- Derek

Yep- I am sure it does not matter what you use to agitate in the Releasit. I use what I already have available, and am accustomed to use... so- go for it. Let us know how it goes.

The furniture I have cleaned with it so far has been mostly olefin material, and the only way to hurt it is to set it on fire. A couple of nylons, that were tough stuff, and again- no way to hurt it.

If anybody wants to see what I did encapping the furniture the other day- here is the URL-

This page also shows encapping a urine filled rug and a buncha vomit and wine stain.

Gary, Using the roto on the velvet didn't create any distortion? I guess you groom it afterwards?

Steps I did.

Vac with hand held small Dirt Devil to remove loose dirt.

Quart bottle with 4 ounces double strength Releasit, fill with water, trigger spray top. Spray entire chair, including loose cushion.

Put Fiber Plus pad on furniture roto, run over all sprayed areas. The olefin velvet did not need groomed- it is a pretty coarse material, not fine. I did smooth it a bit with my hand, which I suppose could be called grooming, but not needed with a brush.

Some of the tight compound curves could not keep the Fiber Plus pad on, but the flat areas, it worked fine.

The sofa- spray the mix on the back cushions, roto them, set aside. Spray the seat cushions one side, roto them, turn them, spray them, roto them, set aside. Separate the 3 sections so I can get at all the sides where they touched. Spray one section body, roto it. Spray next section, roto it. Spray next section, roto it.

Set the now cleaned seat and back cushions on the set decking, on their zipper sides, teepee style. Done.

WOOO HOOO!! Almost as fast as typing this in!!

I have not calculated the dollars per hour, and I won't tell what it was anyway, but it is a lot more than carpet cleaning.
