Having trouble with FP pads

I did my first encap job last night (commercial grade low profile carpet). I tried to use the recommended FP pads with the bonnet machine but they were too aggressive. The machine kept tripping the fuse. I ended up using the bonnets with the green stripe. Carpet looked better but not great. Has anyone had a similar problem with the FP pads? Any help would be appreciated.

I use them all the time on a Chemstractor. They need to be wet with your cleaning solution on the initial start.

I did dampen them, but they may have still been too dry. Thanks for the response. I really want this encap process to work.

sounds like you were also running on a really weak circuit. could have you run from a diff circuit? maybe bring an ext. cord and try that next time, i cant imagine there not being a stronger circuit in a commercial setting.

once you get on a working circuit, which shouldnt be too hard, i think you'll like the FP pads alot.

thanx --- Derek.

They are a little aggressive when new, once you have "broken" them in you will have no problem.

Good comments above guys!

One more thought: If you can use the pads by shower-feeding the detergent with a solution tank, it will perform better than spraying down the detergent (as in bonnet cleaning).

The reason the pads drew more current than the bonnets is the same reason they're so effective. The FiberPlus pads grip the carpet pile. Bonnets and brushes are more prone to just slip over the carpet's surface. Whereas the FiberPlus pads have the ability to have more of a grip with the fiber thus making positive contact with the fiber. This enables the pads to clean efficiently.

Same deal tonight- a weak circuit. My Chemstractor was grunting to start. I recognized the problem, and moved the cord to another outlet. Started just fine now.

If your machine grunts on starting, from a weak circuit, or blows breakers, that is VERY hard on the machine too.

KBS, Derek, Don, Rick, and Gary - thanks for your help. I will try all suggestions including the shower feed. I believe this will be the best method for commercial accounts. I just need to become more adept at the process. Thanks again!

no problem TJS it wasnt your fault, just a weak circuit...most commercial circuits arent that weak. a showerfeed will also help as Rick mentioned.

thanx and good fortune --- Derek.
