Accepting cards can be helpful. Government contracts generally prefer to pay by CC. And there are a number of building managers who have a corporate card for purchases. In these scenarios it makes it easier for them to pay you without putting it into the bid/approval cycle, they just pick up the phone and buy.
The best deal I've found for a casual CC user is from Discover/NOVUS. They can set you up with what’s called a
"seasonal account". That means that even if you don't have transactions in a month they won't close or charge the account.
You can purchase a reconditioned Omni 3200 terminal for about $300. So your only cost for anything is a one time $300 charge for the reconditioned terminal machine. That's it!
There’s no setup or application fee, no monthly minimum, no monthly fee, no contract, no cancellation fee. I found their transaction rates to be reasonable, but these will vary according to an individual's business needs.
