What has happened to the reverse running switch on the latest R48 I saw, switching on and off is now operated via a trigger mechanism, and running in one direction only.

Was this a previously available option,or are we looking at a cost cutting exercise on Truvox's part.If so ,what else has changed, especially as far as the motor is concerned?

yes, it is a trigger going in one direction. I can not account for any older version.
The trigger has 4 stops. First is off, second starts it in lets say a counterclockwise direction, the next is off, then the 4th starts it in the clockwise direction. you just turn the on/off swicth one turn. It is great.
now you are cleaning on all sides of the fiber.
so every time you start and stop to move furniture, etc.,
you are now seeing opposite rotatiion of the pads and deck.
I would say a big advantage on brushes, and I dont have any yet, but you dont waste or damage brushes and their bristles leaning or going the same way all the time.
I am sure that has to help and provide longevity to them as well.
just a thought. I dont know if this is the answer that you are looking for.

After re reading your post, i may have answered it wrong.
the only 'trigger' mechanism is for the release of the solution. The actual mechanism that changes the rotation of the deck is a knob. It isnt any sort of trigger.
I dont know anything about older models.
If i didn't answer what you were referring to, I am sorry,
Encapman can chime in and answer. He surely will know what you are referring to.
good luck

David's in the UK - so the R48's there may be different.

Up to this point in time in the US market we've only seen the machines with the reversing switch (each time the machine is turned on it reverses the direction as Steve correctly commented on above). This design feature is intended to prolong the life of brushes so that the bristles don't get permanently set in one direction. If Truvox is changing the design we haven't seen it in the US yet.

False alarm

June 15 2004, 5:44 PM

I went back today,to have proper look at the updated R48.
The switch on the top panel has gone and a right hand trigger is now operating on and off.
The owner ran it for me,went as follows:sgueeze and hold the trigger machine runs in one direction, let go and it stops,do it again and it runs the opposite way.So not much has changed.

I think I jumped the gun by questioning Truvox's commitment to the traditional Cimex quality
A case of engaging mouth before brain on my behalf ,perhaps!

Thanks for the comments

Health & safety requirements are always parmount so we do try and go for the best option to protect users and avoid any workers or worse still your cusotmer's comp claims!

Over time we plan to re-design the machines but when we do we will use the US (and maybe some of you guys) as the real-life testers.

Keep on encapping and making money!

Cheers
