Deleted Shaw message

June 24 2004 at 5:39 PM

Rick Gelinas

I deleted the message posted by Fred Geyen regarding Shaw. It appears that this is an isolated problem and therefore is a personal matter between Ashley's use of OP equipment and his local carpet cleaning competitors. The blame had been placed on Shaw. Actually, I have seen that Shaw has demonstrated that they have an open mind toward evaluating other cleaning methods beyond just HWE. So to imply that Shaw is singling out an isolated carpet cleaner seems odd. Yet my heart goes out to Ashley if he's having problems in his business. But posting about his woes on this board is not going to help him or anyone here. And judging by the nature of that particular post I have a hunch that this matter could even become litigious. Best to let it rest elsewhere.

Respectfully,

Rick Gelinas

A good move Rick, read it on the other board, it is sad, however, may be more to the story than we are reading.

Just proves that you need to be aware of manufacturers requirements and if you don't stay on top of it you can well find yourself in the same situation, a good lesson for all of us.

Thought it was important information for people doing Commerical work. Was not a rap on Shaw but trying to build an awarness of potential land mines that people my run into.

I agree Fred, commercial only has it's pitfalls too.
One needs to be aware when a lot of your eggs are in one basket. We have one account that is about 30% of our commercial business, we treat them with kid gloves, when they ask for something we run. We have managed to keep this account for over 15 years, and have just signed for another 3 year contract. One major advantage of commercial is if you do what you promise to do, you lock out all the other competition, these people don't like to change contractors just for the sake of change.
If you promise to keep the carpets clean, than you better keep it clean. NO INTERIUM MAINTENANCE process will do it on it's own, you better be aware of what is still in the carpet and do some extraction cleaning on a regular basis.
We have two choices, clean for appearance only, or clean to remove as much soil as possible.
If you elect to clean for appearance only, you leave yourself wide open for what happened in this chaps case.
