Connections Day 3

July 17 2004 at 9:39 PM

Rick Gelinas

Not as much to report today. I was in the booth all day today. But it was still awesome to meet so many special people from our industry.

If any of you can make it to these events in the future be sure to try to come - you won't be disappointed. The investment of time and money will be returned to you. You will be learning from some of the brightest minds in our industry. You will be able to network and soak up knowledge that will far exceed your costs to attend. Connections is THE EVENT of our industry. Come and be a part of it.

Re: Connections Day 3

I have gone to many conventions. I always learn something new. Always the new equipment and products, talking to other cleaners over dinner or drinks, relaxing, is always rewarding, sometimes get a tip or trick that you could not get elsewhere, and sometimes worth the entire trip and expense.

The secondary reason I like going to conventions is- FREE STUFF!!

Many exhibitors give away samples or big discount prices not available at other times, or from local suppliers.

Many times I have come away from a convention with chemicals that allow me to do around $1000 worth of work, and cost me nothing. And sometimes I switch, sometimes not, but to try the new stuff is always informative, even if I say- no more of this stuff!!

And at a convention in 1998 that's where I got the idea of Turbo Steam Cleaning. Totaly out of the blue. Bang!! There it was.

Between the conventions and SummerFests is where I got sold on encapping. BANG!! There it was.

Same with the Nose Cleaner tool. One look, BANG!! I gotta have that tool!!

To this day, my local supplier does not carry them. What a great idea, and really makes the stair noses easy to clean.

Encapping with Releasit Encapsulating Detergent and Fiber Plus Pads side by side showed me this process was more than twice as fast as OP cleaning, maybe more, and at least as fast, or more than as fast as HWE with a wand. The most important feature disregarding the speed of cleaning is- it is JUST as clean on the same carpet as HWE with a Vortex Truck Mount, and other Truck Mounts.

So, GO!! You won't regret it.

Gary
