Hair sponge or hair roller, we use both. Something that might work also is a dry cleaning sponge.

I had some pieces that were pilled and hairy really bad. Pils all over the pieces. Dry cleaning sponge removed the hair. How to remove the pilling? I used an electric hair clippers. Like a knife through soft butter. Charged an extra $30.00 for the process that took about 1/2 hr. extra.
