"Deep cleaning" with encap

Well, how deep is "Deep cleaning." Tonight I checked the one oriental rug I have on hand with any pile, about 1/4 inch pile, the other 3 either have no pile at all, or less than 1/16, so virtually no pile. Anyway, while the rug with pile is hanging, I can part tufts and have a look in several areas.

Whaddya know. All the way from the tips to the base- absolutely clean. Now, maybe that is remarkable, maybe it is not, depending on your viewpoint.

When I saw Rick doing a demo on commercial carpet, I did the part the tufts and have a look, and sure it was clean all the way from the tip to the base, but that pile was maybe 1/16 to 1/8 of an inch deep.

Several of the residential jobs I have done, with longer pile tufts, I do the same thing, take a close look. And while most residential nylon and wool carpets tufts are pretty close together, and come clean from the tips to the base, the oriental with the tufts packed a LOT closer, more dense, and can potentially resist getting clean the entire length of the tuft- here's the proof of "Deep Cleaning."

One area I especially checked closely was where there was a several urine deposit area, some 10 or 12 inches in diameter. No visible sign of the urine now. Nose right down on the area, no sign of any odor here.

At this writing, the rugs are still slightly damp from yesterday's cleaning, not 100% dry, and while I did not specifically find a source of the odor, there is still a faint odor of urine in the room.

I will see tomorrow if there is any odor left when fully dry.

for "deep cleaning" you using brushes or pads? Did a house last night with a real hard tight sculptured loop, I thought it looked like all it cleaned was the tops of the high stuff. white pad and swing machine. It was in a rental house of mine so no big deal, I still think it looked better than HWE woulda. What do you think the ideal setup fot this type of carpet would be, rental cleans is one of our services in our janitorial co.

Brian,

It sounds like a shampoo brush would have been better for that one. A rotary machine can not travel across the carpet like a Cimex can. A rotary is lighter and the pad driver is larger. Whereas on the Cimex the heads are smaller and they're free floating on rubber grommets. Also the heads are spinning in all directions simultaneously. So the heads can generally do a pretty good job of addressing uneven or textured surfaces. But a brush may be a consideration when there is a very textured surface. For example, we have cleaned ribbed entrance matting with the Cimex. In that situation we use the brushes. So pads will be good for most cleaning applications but in a few instances a shampoo brush will be good to have on hand too.

I agree with the shampoo brushes. A couple of rentals that I have done with the cimex and releasit, I went over the entire area with the shampoo brushes then ran fiber pads over the traffic areas. It looked and worked much better.

Well, the Fiber Plus Pads gets pretty deep, and in some cases I have checked, did clean the entire length of the tuft, the reason I used the shampoo brush is because I more wanted a soaking, all the way through because of the urine deposits. The Fiber Plus Pads more does the surface, and a lot drier than the brush.

I took the rugs down yesterday, and NO odor from any of them. So, Steve Smith gets credit and Rick gets credit, because both products removed the urine.
(There were no stains in the rugs.)

A previous lot of rugs with urine where I used the Fiber Plus Pads and Releasit did not do the job 100%, and now, I suspect it was because of the less amount of Releasit Encapsulating Detergent applied through the pads.

The next lot of urine deposited rugs I get in, will get the brush, not the pad.
