Price Per Sq. Ft.

when giving a written proposal to a prospect, should the price per sq. ft. be given? or is it better to only give the bottom-line price?

personally, i have always given the amount of sq. ft. and the cents per sq.ft., followd by the bottom-line price.

but i am wondering if that could turn a prospect into a price shopper by inviting them to "call around" and see what other CC'ers may charge per sq. ft.

any ideas?

thanx --- Derek.

I don't give prices per sq ft - just the total price. I will even break down the price per sq ft to make it harder for them to determine my price per sq ft. For example, instead of charging .10 per sq ft I'll charge .0967

It's all in my new book... 101 Ways To Acquire Commercial Accounts.

WOW, that's a huge piece of advice IMO.

the only draw-back i see from doing it that way is that the prospect will only see this huge figure...in my mind anyways, i think their seeing a small figure (.10 or .20 cents for example) helps them "legitimize" in their own mind the higher total price.

but i can also see the huge benefit of not giving the price per sq. ft...then i can try and put some 7's in the price to catch their attention as you advised Rick. i have done this once so far

thanx! --- Derek.

This is one of my favorit subjects so I thought that I would add my 2 cents.

I'm losing bids at 9 cents a sq ft, so maybe I need to be a better sales guy.

With that said, I'm losing bids in trauma cleanup that are very low, like $350 for a basic bathroom suicide!

Ed Evans
