I know this isn't a carpet cleaning related thread (or maybe it is ... you gotta recharge those batteries). And I wouldn't normally recommend a vacation spot. But this place was over the top!
If any of you are thinking about going to a really nice spot to take a vacation break - this may interest you. It blew us away when you consider how nice it was for the money.
Nancy and I just got back from a trip to upper Vermont. Nancy's family lives there. Well at the end of our "family trip" we splurged and went up to this incredible Inn/Resort just over the border in Quebec.
The Inn is located in a picturesque small town on a lake surrounded by green mountains. Lots of sailboats on the lake. Flowers everywhere! The shops and cafés in town speak French and English and so does the staff at the hotel (after all, it's Quebec). It was kind of like taking a trip to Europe for about 1/10th the price, or less.
The inn is called the Hovey Manor (or in French - Manoir Hovey). It's a 150 year old mansion that was originally the summer home of some rich American business man. The place is incredible!
The staff there is so professional. They are on top of things. You want anything and it's there. It was service to the max!
The garden is really IMPRESSIVE - great flowers. The trees are old and the forest smell is in the air. There's a wall of rock that drops down to the lakefront. There's a small beach and a dock. The pool is heated year round. And the lake was warm enough to swim in.
We canoed, swam in the pool, hiked, rode mountain bikes, and I wind-surfed. All that is included.
The package deal also includes a gourmet French dinner and a tasty breakfast that includes a nice buffet as well as "order off the menu" items (they had the best homemade granola we've ever tasted).
It was good to put up the feet and just RELAX!
I would highly recommend it for anybody who is interested in a seriously relaxing vacation.
It was a bit expensive - but when you factor in the meals that were included it becomes a little more reasonable (and don't forget that the Canadian exchange rate favors US dollars too). Be sure to factor that the pricing is "per person" - I missed that when I first checked their website. Hey ya gotta splurge sometimes.
Here are some pics of the place...

If you decide to go there, I KNOW you're gonna love it! We sure did. Our brief stay was just what the doctor ordered!!! We're already looking forward to returning.
