| I have recently been doing some research in hopes to expand my fathers business to a larger area. We would like to use Cymex and the encapsulation process to clean some properties for a management company. All of the talks have gone well and the company seems very interested however their agreement with their carpet manufacturer states that they must use hot water extraction in order to keep the warantee. I was wondering if anyone has run into this problem before and if there is anyway around the issue. |

Ask to see the warranty, I doubt that it says they MUST use HWE. Read it carefully, might say something to the effect that they should use HWE, or HWE is the preferred cleaning method. Mills are seldom that specific as it puts them on the hock if the system fails. It may just be the sales rep who said HWE is the only way.
There are several approved cleaning methods, some mills prefer certain methods over others, however, anyone of the approved methods if done properly will not void any warranty.
If given the opportunity get a copy of the warranty and explain to your custom what the warranty really does or better yet what it does not cover, they may be surprised to find out how little is included in the warranty. |

I was always told that under a commerical enviroment, there isn't a warranty. I could be wrong, but that is what I have been lead to believe.

The above post hit it on the head
I dont believe that a warranty will be in place since it is in a rental/commercial enviromnent, ?? yes?? and that in itself voids most warranties. it is still worth having a look , but that is what you will probably find out.
Good luck.

Step One --go to a vinyl graphics store and have them make up a fancy graphc that says: " World's Best Hot Water Extraction Machine- (SM)"
Step Two- Apply graphic to front of Cimex machine.
Step Three- Go sign the contract.
If they ask you if you are useing HWE then just point to the front of your machine and ask them what it says.

I like Tony's idea.
Use hot water for your Releasit Encapsulating Detergent Ready-to-Use, if needed, get an immersion heater, so the water is plenty hot. Maybe go a step further and use a thermometer to show that water is really 180 degrees- or whatever. There is the HW part of the equasion. The E extraction part is vacuuming out the encapsulated soil next day.
Semantics- right?
Whaddya think?

Reminds me of my first day with the Cimex. I felt like a fish outta water. I was so nervous (because I care) that I just HAD to get hot water from my truckmount. Then I would clean and think about all that equiptment in the van and how quiet it was out there. lol |

Gary---- It is not the hot water that some mills worry about, after all Shaw loves the Steamin Demon and 99% of the time in commercial settings you use up the hot water in the first 10 minutes. It is the rotary action that has some mills concerned, and it is for that reason only that they say HWE is the preferred cleaning method.
Years ago I played a nasty little trick on Milliken, at the time I was the area preferred cleaning contractor for Milliken. I sent a few carpet tiles to have them test them for any problems from our cleaning program, of course they thought we had been cleaning them with capture, and the report came back that the tiles where in excellant shape for being ten years old, fact is we had bonnet cleaned these carpets every week for 10 years, 520 cleanings with the bonnet system and no adverse effect on the carpet fibers. Not bad in my world. |

Why the mills don't like rotary systems.
Maybe.
I can easily envision this scenario at the mill.
Carpet Cleaning Test With Rotary Systems.
Operator has a roto. Handle straight up. Turn machine on. Machine spins raplidly around, slams into the operator's wrist, breaking his wrist.
"This system is no good!!"
Another operator lowers the handle to working height.
"Aha!! Ya gotta lower the handle."
Turns the machine on, it slams into the wall on the left.
Drags the machine away from the wall. Lowers the handle more. Turns the machine on. Slams into the wall on the right.
"This system is no good!!"
Another operator gets it going. Dry brush or bonnet on dry carpet. Tears up the carpet.
"This system is no good!!"
And that's why mills don't like rotary systems.
Maybe.

Close, only it was a Janitor in Alabama that did that, and after that didn't work he got some wax stripper and used that in the tank, carpets looked great for a day or two and than they resoiled real bad, retailor had no idea of how this could happen, mill rep was at a loss for words, installer said it must be bad carpet, replace it. Mill sends out technical person sees rotary machine, END OF ROTARY MACHINES ON THEIR PRODUCTS. |
