I cleaned a straight cut nylon carpet about 210sf bacement carpet real soft to the touch stoff the pad had very little use however all three of them wore holes all the way to the grippers. was woundering what happen.I have had holes in the past but not this fast.It also did that thing were the carpet pile would wind up in the pads and hang their.

Randy,

Not sure what would cause the pads to wear so quickly. They normally last about 5 hours / or approximately 10,000 sq ft

Be sure to move the machine in a north-south direction not east-west. Unless of course, it's during a full moon or lunar eclipse in which case you'd scrub at a 45% angle to the median line.

All kidding aside, I don't have an answer for you.
That kind of wear seems very unusual.

Barry, you experienced the pad wearing down to where holes were apparent?
i would say you both are leaving the pads on too long before putting new ones on.

typically CC'ers new to Encap'ing / Cimex will either go over areas too quickly, or (like me) go over areas too long and put down too much solution AND wear out the pads faster.

keep a close eye on your pads....you'll ruin your pad drivers letting holes wear thru your FP pads.

thanx --- Derek.

I am curious to see how this plays out as i have in no way, shape or form, even come close to running holes thru my pads and to the driver.... be it from encapsulation or prespray agitation.
I normally get up neat the 10k ft per set of 3 pads.
I am 'miffed' to this scenario as described above.
HMMMMMMMMM????

No answer like Rick.
I havent seen it yet and i am getting some serious time on my Cimex. I use it daily for agitation of my prespray in the HWE side of things, let alone encapping.

Did you guys pre vac carpets? I have cleaned a few where I didn't pre vac very much and the carpet was of poor quality. It seems that fiber from the carpet, pieces of the fiber pad, and the dirt mixed together in the center of the pads and as the cleaning process was taking place it pulls the fiber of the pad to the center. I would get these long string like looking things in the center of the pad and the pad center is wearing out faster then the rest of the pad.The pads held up for about 5000sq. This was on a single loop, jute backed, commerical glued down carpet. Just my thoughts

That is the one thing that makes a powerful truck mount so much better for apartments. Light vacuum, clean it with an RX20, put an air mover in the room, dries quick and flushes out all that gunk. Have you paid off that credit card bill yet that you used to buy the Cimex?

Just to let everyone know, we did a 10,000 SF job last week that had 2x2 carpet squares. If you ever do them make sure you have alot of pads with you. I tried the Max and the other pads, they both were gone in no time (about 2500 SF). But the carpet cleaned up very good. I sent Rick a pic of the job and my legs were in the pic, Rick said I have sexy legs LOL. But Rick don't show everyone, I don't need all the phone calls.

One thing to remember. If you make a 40' cleaning pass and turn around and come back down the same path, you have went from cleaning 73' sq to cleaning 146' sq. Make another pass and that becomes 292' sq. So now you have cleaned a small area but the sq. footage has grown 3 fold. If you go slow and the carpet is becoming cleaner you will get more friction and more wear on the pads.

well Steve, weve made enough with the Cimex to pay for 2 and a half machines, but MOST of that $$ has gone towards other bills lol...thus far i've made well over 5 grand, i otherwise wouldnt have ever made, with me 'Mex....thats in 3 months. i'm very pleased! CC'ing never brought in that kinda $$$ for me in past years....i'm a part-time CC'er soon to be full-time, i'm workin on it.

thanx for asking --- Derek.

BTW, going on my annual "vacation" tomorrow. normally it is a long weekend, this year we pushed an extra day so we'll be back wednesday hope Charlotte doesnt get much rain from the storm
