commercial carpet replacement $$

Anyone know the average price per sq ft to replace commercial carpeting? I was thinking this might be handy to use as a percentage since many trashed commercial jobs are sometimes thinking of replacement vs cleaning

that is where the Cimex comes in over any other method of encapping. a true scrubbing tank..
I term it 'restoration'
although true, there are times that replacing is the answer. everything has to go sometime. even us unfortunately.
but the Cimex will def. extend that buying time for a while with its restorative capabilities.

A company that does restoration once quoted me $3-5 per square foot for medium to high end commmercial glue down, installed.

'Course, that does NOT count the client's internal costs to reconfigure paneling and computer wiring, movers to move the furniture, etc. Wise companies back up stuff and have all stuff move personal items, etc. So it has 'soft costs' in addition to the 'hard cost' of the product.

You can git cheaper oleyfin stuff at the Home Cheapo, for as little as $1 per square and a bit under. So paying for heavy restoration on a trashed carpet may not be justified if they have the cheap stuff in mind.

But if they have high end stuff, then no amount you would charge would be higher than replacement.

One other factor - were they planning a renovation anyway? If so, and they chose a different color scheme, the old color may be in the way and they wanna get rid of it. So it may not be purely a cost issue. People sometimes 'de-value' their current carpet cuz they are tired of it and want new for the morale effect.

Excellent post Clay!

Yes, the actual TOTAL cost for replacing the carpet is much higher than the simple price-tag per yard. So when they factor all of the various costs involved - maintaining the existing carpeting is much less expensive alternative. For many reasons maintenance makes a whole lot of sense. And that's good news for us! So convey the aspect of total cost savings to your prospective clients. While carpet care may at first look like an expense to them, it should not be hard to demonstrate that we're actually there to save them money in the long run.
