Gilles, most folks prefer the pads over the brushes. More surface contact, better agitation, more even detergent coverage, and less detergent usage.

i believe rick has a point there is more contact with the carpet and pad than with the brushes but i do believe the brushes have thier place in there too

then this poses another question... since the pads are better for cleaning, how come Rick sells Rota-brushes for stairways with a brush? why not some attachment that allows a pad on cordless drill?

a couple areas where brushes MIGHT be a better fit over a pad is on longer pile carpet (typically resi) and possibly on upholstery.?. upholstery is most times fragile and i think putting a pad on a drill could be more apt to do damage to the finer fabrics, whereas a brush may be a little more gentle.

just a guess tho.

thanx --- Derek.
