| I am looking at both units. I am leaning towards the X2 just because some of the commercial jobs I do are not huge. If I buy a X2 and like it then I will probably wish I bought a Cimex.

I am thinking about the same thing. However, I feel that the X2 is more versatile. I can't see ever taking a cimex into a residential job. But the X2 can be used in residential due to it's smaller size and can be used fairly well on commercial.

Each have their place for sure. The Cimex is a phenomenal scrubber, but the X2 will fit the needs of someone who prefers a smaller machine. What John said makes sense.

Waldo, i'm the same way...if ya buy the Mex, you'll prolly wish you bought the X2 instead lol.
really though, i am very glad i bought my Mex and prefer it over the X2 only because of it's aggressiveness....i do some REALLY trashed carpets and the Cimex is the only way for me to really get the results i want.
not to mention, i am still hesitant to use a cylindrical brush machine on carpet...im uber paranoid of pulling a seam. how legitimate a concern is this Rick or anyone else who may use something like an X2 or a GLS? heck, i've pulled a few seams just with a vac beater bar....did it a couple weeks back on a berber resi job with my Dyson. glad my folks are understanding ppl and it was on a doorway seam to another type of carpet....both are being replaced soon with hardwoods anyways, but still i almost fell over!
thanx --- Derek. |

Yes, you can pull a loose yarn with any type of cylindrical machine.

The Cimex can do a pretty good job on a loose seam too.
You need to preinspect the jobs and qualify these problems prior to cleaning. |

Don,
We've cleaned a tremendous amount of carpet with the Cimex machines and we've never pulled a seam yet. I suppose there's always the first time for everything though. But using the pads on the Cimex does make it pretty unlikely.

Rick
You have been very lucky not to have hit a bad seam with the Cimex.
It is with the pads that it can do the most damage. We now carry a glue gun with us when we are doing carpets with inserts or borders as these are the most likely places to find this problem.
Just the other night we were in a law office and had to take the pads off and go with bonnets on the Cimex under the secretary's work station as the carpet was so badly delaminated that we would have destroyed it with the pads.
The Cimex with pads is a very aggressive scrubber, so one needs to pay attention to weak areas in the carpet as it will cause some damage that will need repaired.
No doubt in this situation any cleaning method could cause some type of damage, one needs to use common sense. |

so Chris, let's say i pull a seam...whether it be from my handy work with a vacuum or a counter-rotating brush...will that machine fix the prob? or does it depend on the circumstances?
thanx for the info --- Derek. |
