Cimex 400rpm?

December 15 2004 at 1:27 AM

Tad

Well I have used my cimex But after a large job with it, 9 hrs or so ,,I went and spray buffed a VCT floor for a customer ..NO CHARGE of course, with a 175/300 rpm that was used to encap before the yellow monster and
I thought while spray buffing, that the CIMEX was not going 400rpm but it seemed to be @ 175 or so ?

What do you all think?

Tad,

Let me start by saying, a high speed buffer (1500 rpm or higher) is what you will need to do optimal spray buffing. Pick up one, even a used one and see the difference for yourself. You'll like it! Even a 400 rpm planetary machine is a bit slow to realy crank out the VCT.

Your observation was correct. The deck of the 400 rpm Cimex is turning slower than a 175 rpm floor machine. What's that you say? Yep. The deck is rotating at approximately 1/3 the speed of the brushes. However the brushes are spinning at 400 rpm. That's how it's geared to work off the pulley/belt design. So you are cleaning with 400 rpm when the brushes/pads are on the floor.

Rick ,

I have a high speed 1600 rpm that I used a couple of times ...until a few customers (employees) mentioned in passing that the floors look like there "wet"
& slippery....

Well BELLS went off in my head and since then the floors have a soft satin finish.
and we now just use the 300rpm for buffing. and "limit" our exposure.

Anyrate on to the cimex ?

Thank you for making that clear to me,I thought the same & wanted to make sure.

I'm off to NYC on Friday to clean about 11000 sq.ft. of commercial carpet and also scrub two restroom tile floors/and about 3000sq.ft. VCT with big yellow I'm curious to see how well it performs scrubbing the vct just .

Best
Tad
