| Heath mentioned after the wet pass with the Mex, turn around and walk back for the dry pass. of course this is no epiphany, but i never thought about how it might be hitting the fibers in a diff direction now. is this right? i admit with the Cimex pads and deck running in opposite directions i cant figure it out in my thick head lol.
John VonNida pointed out doing this up and down several long passes, to do let's say a hallway. then he said he goes back over it. i dont know if this is what he meant but : what do yall think of making several wet only passes to cover a length of hall way, THEN go back to the first wet pass (now it has had a couple minutes dwell time) and then doing the dry passes down each lane?
maybe some of yall do this, but im not too quick lol....sounds like a great idea, gotta try it. for any of you that do this, do you notice a difference (cleaner carpet) over just doing the wet pass then immediately doing the dry pass?
thanx fellas! --- Derek. |

Derek, with all due respect, you might be over thinking a simple process. It depends on the job a lot of times with me, but try it and see what you think.

I think that by the time you finished 2 or 3 wet passes, the first pass wouldnt have the "whiteness of the fibers" that you get from the solution. With that, it may be a little difficult to keep up or find the exact path you're supposed to be on. I would just stick to the wet pass followed by an immediate dry pass...pushing forward the whole time unless in a confined area. For some reason, I have trouble back-trailing my forward wet pass, especially up against a wall, so pushing forward both ways works well for me. |

when using a swing machine I do about a 10x10 area wet then go back over it dry. if its got a lot of spots I'll leave it set longer before 2nd pass, seems to help it.

Let me start by saying that I don't use the encapsulation on restaurants, but I have tried it on a couple real dirty ones just to see how far encapsulation would take it. It's really amazed me at what it will do.
But the interesting part of my testing is that when I've tried it and cleaned say 500 sq. ft. and look at it, it didn't look too bad. But then I started at the beginning of that section and went over the area again dry at 90 degrees to the first pass and it really made it pop.
I've just equated it to having that little extra dwell time and then agitating it again allowed it to really be suspended.

I find that when I clean if I walk sideways it cleans better LOL. |

Indeed you're overthinking this, Derek. Do whatever it takes to get it clean. Look at the carpet - that'll tell you. If one pass is enough, then it's enough. Just make sure to overlap everything.
Direction makes no difference. Turning the handles around changes nothing as far as how the pads are cleaning. Reversing the direction of rotation makes no difference. Walking sideways makes no difference (that's a joke - right?) Walking faster makes a difference. New pads make a difference. The amount of solution applied makes a difference. The length of the carpet fibers makes a
difference. The kind of fiber makes a difference. A difference makes a difference.
Now, just clean it. |

Yes, it was a joke walking sideways doesn't help. I say the samething, just clean. We just did 120 rooms at a motel, hallways,3 banquit rooms and lobbys in 2 1/2 days 2 people with the cimex (never started the Butler). Very nice Christmas bonus. We have been cleaning for this company for 10 years this is the first year with the cimex, they said it looked great.
Merry Christmas everyone. |

i realize the overthinking process with Encap, i have done it alot. i am just thinking of ways however small, to improve the result. HWE'ers do it, so can Encap'ers lol.
reason i brought it up is i always go back and forth, back and forth, back and forth. and that is fine, but for heavier soiled carpets, maybe that few minutes dwell time will make a world of difference. and as mr. Thode commented, he has seen this diff in allowing a dwell time, something i personally never considered before.
tips / new ideas, however small, can help some of us out...that's what this forum is for.
thanx for the responses fellas, i look forward to hearing your ideas to.
take care --- Derek.
