Travel time

Anyone have suggestions for travel charges?

We live in a community with several small towns and a lot of rural areas around them.

Tried making some circles on a map, with defferent charges for each zone to compensate for travel, but doesn't seem to fit the bill.

Thinking about setting boundaries and charging by travel time or mileage for areas outside boundaries, like city limits.

Any suggestions on how you do it and how much you charge for travel?

thanks,
John L.

We hate travel time. But can't get the transporter beam working just right yet. Necessary evil.

For local jobs, we just allow a lower minimum charge. For areas further away, we don't mind doing the job if it's larger, but we raise our minimum price. This weeds out smaller jobs that don't make sense to do at a lower price.

We now charge a minimum of $120 for local and $140 for 'less than local'. We could be more organized and have an exact list of what is 'non-local'. Instead, I just happen to know the towns and if someone calls from the North Pole region....I just quote the higher price.
