Very Solied Olefin

January 13 2005 at 9:16 AM
Juan Rodriguez

I have a very solied grey glued down olefin. I would like to know the best method for encapsulation cleaning. Is it better to pre-spray it and then go over with a shower feed with the Cimex? Or, just go over with a shower feed with the Cimex?

They had a local cleaner under contract who apparently used a sticky detergent and the carpet is so soiled that is "caked" in some areas.

If this subject has already been discussed, sorry I missed it.

Thank You for your response!

Good morning Juan,

It's nice to hear from you again.

If it is badly "caked" with soil and detergent build up you may want to flush those areas with HWe first.

However... Here is the process for encapping a nasty olefin with the Cimex and Releasit.

1) Pre-vac real well.
2) Mix Releasit at the dilution for pre-spray. With DS it is 6 oz per gallon. Pre-spray the carpet. Allow a few minutes of dwell time.
3) Mix Releasit with HOT water at the normal dilution and pour it into the Cimex tank. (The FiberPlus Max pads will work well on this carpet) Make SLOW passes. On your first pass crawl along scrubbing ever so slowly. Gently feather out the solution to evenly whiten the surface with the detergent. Go slow! Make 3 more dry passes, also slow. You can add just a touch more solution when making the dry passes.
4) After you have completed cleaning the entire building. Quickly make one more dry pass over the worst areas. If the carpet in those areas is already dry you can add just a touch more solution during this final quick dry pass. The final quick dry pass finishes off the carpet nicely.

This is how we take the Cimex/Releasit system into the realm of RESTORATION. At this rate your production is going sink to 1,000 sq ft per hour or even slightly less. But you can accomplish some extraordinary results using this technique. And the common concern of wicking that you would expect with an olefin carpet will not be a factor. This approach works.

Let us know how it turns out. Take some pictures.
