Rick or others who may know my situation, Have any of you dealt with Shaw before? Yesterday I cold called my local mall and luckly went to school with the mall manager. She said that their carpet was manufactured by Shaw and that an independent company like myself could not clean it. That only an approved janitorial company that has been trained by Shaw and purchased equipment through Shaw were allowed to do maintance cleanings. I explained my methods and IICRC certifications and how with the cimex system my company could possibly do an even better job. She seemed interested but said it was all up to Shaw ans the janitorial company so she would give my card to the janitorial manager who may sub it out. What method does Shaw recommend and am I just wasting my time on this. This could be a large account, but I bet they are just bonneting in house am I correct?

It would be unlikely that Shaw would recommend a Janitorial firm to do carpet cleaning. It was that industry that got Shaw all upset about bonnet cleaning in the first place.
They do tend to insist that clients seek out professional carpet cleaners to maintain their carpets. Don't give up try to get a chance to do a demo clean for them, and if you can arrange it, go in right after the janitorial firm has cleaned the carpet, and show your prospective client what you can do, and the difference in your cleaning vs. the janitorial firms cleaning.
None of this crap about who has to clean their carpets is engraved in stone.

Tracy,

I think I may be able to cast some light on this. You are in North Carolina. Shaw just sold new carpet to a couple of malls in Carolina.

How do I know about this? Because a couple of months back, the mall management company who purchased the carpet contacted us inquiring about purchasing CIMEX machines to scrub their carpets. According to the person who called me, Shaw had recommended Cimex machines for this particular task.

I still haven't heard back from the mall management company yet regarding their equipment purchasing. However I will say that I was very pleased to hear that Shaw is suggesting the use of Cimex equipment for this facility. The effectiveness of the Cimex, coupled with it's safety to the fiber and the operator make it an ideal consideration.

Beyond this conversation though I don't know how you might be able to work into their system. It's been experience that it can be just about impossible to open doors with some of these large management companies. But hey it can't hurt to try - nothing ventured, nothing gained.
