will this work for the CR48?

instead of 3 FP pads, remove 1 pad-driver and pop on a brush. the brush would lift and open the pile for better delivery of the Encap Clean.

it would also (possibly?) allow for better agitation, as any matted tufts will now be lifted to be hit better by the pads.

possible and / or practical?

This is actually one of the dumbest ideas that has ever been presented. The Brit's threw that idea around for a while. It's a flop! Poopoo to be more precise. In fact there were a number of half-baked ideas floating around for the Cimex a few years ago. Ideas like running two bonnets and a brush, generating ozone, scrubbing with clay infused detergent, etc. Then we discovered encapping via crystallization. And you know the rest of the story

Good job with the search engine Derek. But you've been digging up some dinosaurs. The Cimex has been around for 72 years, so you can appreciate how some antiquated ideas have been attached to this machine along the way. Fortunately we've been able to bring the Cimex into the new millennium with new cleaning technologies.

How about a brush, a pad, and a loofa sponge to gently massage and exfoliate the fiber? The brush will agitate, the pad will clean every side of the fiber and the loofa will pamper the fiber.
