Certified Pile Brush Question

February 21 2005 at 9:34 PM
John Long

I have an old Pile lifter that's been sitting around for a long time. Got it out and fired it up this evening, but found it got moved from where I left it last and the brush now has a flat spot, and it sheds bristles really badly.

Since the brush is shot, wondering if anyone knows if brushes are available for these old timers anymore?

Thanks,
John L.

Brushes are still avialble for them. I've had a couple of these old tanks too. Ugly as homemade sin! Great for lifting pile - terrible for vacuuming. Here's a good supplier for them... http://www.johnsonsupplyinc.com/certified.htm

Not good for PreVacuuming prior to Encap?

Are you saying it may not be worth the bother? As I contemplate increasing our commercial and including encapping frequently, I thought I would try to resurrect the beast.

Should I think otherwise about a vacuum?

Thanks Rick,

John,

They are GREAT pile lifters - but only mediocre vacuums at best. The problem is that the vacuum orifice is very wide so it doesn't make a good seal - they leak a lot of air. So they're as likely to spit the debris back onto the carpet as they are to swallow it. A real good commercial vacuum is a better option for vacuuming IMO. I would consider looking into a good commercial vacuum... Hoover Conquest, Lindhaus, Sebo, Nobles, Windsor, Royal, etc.

Same as Rick said, pilelifters are not good vacuums.

Possibly that old pile lifter could be a good encapper. Just shut off the
vacuum parts to keep noise levels down. Along the same lines I've started
using my 12" VS machine with encapping products. Why worry about all that
foam/defoam/not enough foam stuff, when all you really need is good
scrubbing agitation. I'm hoping for an opportunity soon to try encapping
with my VS 24" Mach 12. If the results are good, then I'll have to figure
out to shut down the vacuum part. I never did like all the noise these
machines make.
