Soft Brushes

I just recenly recieved the soft brushes for my new 19 inch cimex, and after I excitedly tore open the box, I proceded to install them. I them loaded the machine with Ricks Voodoo juice, I tried it out in a small area in my home then I noticed as I pushed the machine forward the My cimex would bog down and the motor stop, so I was wondering should I even be using these brushes on carpet?? It seems the brushes are pulling to many amps.. I would like to stick with the fp pads , but they're to aggressive on res carpet. Any one know of a practical way to soften the brushes so they don't burn my baby out??

Garrett, I hope these brushes are white. If you will adjust the handle on the Cimex (is this a 19" or 15"?) so that you can apply a little downward pressure on the handle as you push foward. In otherwords take some of the downward pressure off the brushes until you get them broke in. You might also check to see if you have a full 15 amp circuit.

Hi garrett.
also make sure there is plenty of lubrication. You will find this same problem sometimes with the FP pads, which by the way in 18 months, I have never thought they were too agressive on any residentials.
But maybe that is just my experiences. I dont want to discredit yours.

It may be in the lubrication, or maybe it is in the power part.
Try the first first. LOL

Cimex Brushes

The brushes soften considerably when wet. We will soak the 05 series brushes in a bucket of hot water for a few minutes to pre-soften them. We have scrubbed a lot of residential cut pile with the 07 brushes without the problem you describe. The 07 brushes are usually so soft to begin with, I also wonder about the circuit you are using. Are there other appliances on that circuit?

yep everyone covered it nicely.

in my limited experiences i've yet to come across resi carpet where the FP pads were too aggressive. on 1 job i had it in my head that i should use the soft brushes. after repeatedly going over the same traffic lane half a dozen times, i threw on the FP pads and coulda kicked myself for not using the FP pads to begin with.

the only time i will use the soft brushes from now on is very lightly soiled carpet (or carpet that appears not dirty at all). this will save me on FP pads and still work in the Encap to get the desired results. for light-to-medium soil i will always use the FP pads...they get the job done faster and better.

thanx --- Derek.
