Cimex & chewing gum

March 7 2005 at 6:58 AM
Shorty

I have been asked (once again), will I please come back and tender on schools.

Now that I am coming to grips with a new 'Mex; I would like to know the best way of removing chewing gum from carpet, now that I will be using a 'Mex; instead of HWE.

Looking forward to some inspiring answers.

Thanks,

Shorty.

I've seen the light, and changed my ways.

It is the same problem as any other cleaning method, unless you have a super hot tm that will melt the gum.
We use a good volitile solvent to remove as much of the gum as possible and than scrub it with the Cimex. I have noticed on fresh gum deposits the encap juice will work and the gum releases real easy. Basically same old problems exist.

I use a citrus gell to get all I can, than encap right over it. seems to work good.

I do the same as Brian. But out of laziness one day my tech learned that a 50/50 mixture of Releasit Encap-clean will remove some gum. Most of the time we use the gel gum remover though and then run over it with the Cimex.

i bought a smallish steamer on eBay a couple months ago...look forward to using it on gum. dunno how practical it would be on schools though, no doubt a LOT of gum in schools.

thanx --- Derek.

In cases where there is alot of gum the steamer is the way to go, have a helper go ahead and disolve as much of the gum as possible and than just follow behind with the Cimex

Chewing Gum & Steamers

March 8 2005, 8:22 PM

I frequently use my steam vapor machine to melt gum in a New York second.
Recently retired my aging Fogacci, for which I paid around $1100, with a
$300 deLonghi. Bought it at www.homeenv.com.

What about gum on sidewalks? Thanks in advance for your suggestions.
Something other than a steamer.
