Browning in Wool Carpet

OK Guys 'n Dolls, this is the problem.

Got a direct stick wool carpet in an office.

Overhead fire sprinkler went off and saturated the carpet.

I have dried the carpet.

It now has a brown stain on it where it was wet.

I want to go in, in 20 hours time, to try and get rid of it, using the 'Big Yella' and Releasit, and also clean the rest of the office at the same time.

I might suggest that this brown stain is cellulosic browning from the jute backing.

What do you good people reckon??

All replies cheerfully accepted.

Although action relating to the above answers may be deferred.

Cheers,

Shorty.

Could be rusty water in the sprinkler pipes.

I would susspect that the stain is indeed rust from the pipes I had a job like this in December

Use Citric Acid or a comparable acid.

In cases where there's cellulosic browning we've had some success in cases similar to this by adding 1 teaspoon of citric acid powder to each gallon of Releasit that we mix. This brings the pH down in the range of 5. And yet the Releasit still cleans very well. Then we clean S L O W L Y with the Cimex, making plenty of extra passes.

Be sure to under-promise (in fact make no promises). A flooded wool carpet with jute backing is a recipe for Trouble. But the above method has worked for us with reasonable success, I hope yours works out for you too.
