Can you use honing powder on this? Yes. But it sounds as if the floor is in worse shape than what honing powder can repair. The problem either way is that because of the sanded grout, regardless of what you do, you run the risk of the sand from the grout lines scratching the stone. Make certain the owner of the floor knows that before you start. Whenever you have sanded grout with natural stone you run the risk of it scratching. If what you want is to give the floor a fairly consistent appearance than honing powder should work fairly well. If you want to actually remove stone, and that’s what you’re gonna want to remove any pits or scratches, than you’ll need to use diamonds. Sorry for the brief post but I’m running out the door to a job, I hope this helps you some. Have a great day.

You’ll want something that’s a horse and a half. What’s weird is that powder polishing is harder than doing diamond work. The torque and strain that it puts on you is amazing. You’ll also want it to be a weighted machine. Most weights run about 50lbs plus the weight of the machine, which usually runs 90 – 110lbs.
