As I see it, everything about the new model is an improvement.
1. The handle is adjustable (now tall guys don't have to look like a hunchback)
2. The handle is reversible so the machine can now be pushed as well as pulled.
3. They've removed the silly pre-spray thingy. It comes with a solution hose so you can use it with a HrydroForce sprayer - just like downtown.
4. It has an improved filter so the machine won't get clogged.
5. You can attach a normal upholstery tool without needing the special attachment window apparatus that was required with the old design.
6. The wet-vac motor has slightly higher CFM.
7. It now comes in a 20" size that's perfect for commercial carpet cleaning.
8. A few things have remained the same... It still pumps 3 to 4 gallons of water per minute through the carpet (unmatched by any other machine in the industry). It still connects to a faucet to auto-fill and auto-dumps to a drain. It still weighs under 40 pounds. And it's still loved and recommended by Shaw Industries.
9. It looks a bit more industrial than the older model.
10. And last but not least, they've lowered the price nicely.
So if you're in need of a SERIOUS flushing machine, the SD machine becomes a real no-brainer. There's nothing else that matches its ability to pump water through the carpet.
P.S. Letterman's Top 10 Lists are a lot more entertaining. Sorry.

Rick did a pritty good job.
We have both the XL 15 modle and the Classic model.
I like both for different reasons. Classic is great for Demos
and residential setting. It looks sharp and more apealing to home owners.
I have tried the reverable handle and personally I can go just as fast or faster backwards and turnaround the machine faster. In other words I can go backwards hit the end of the isle and go backwards in the other direction easier then with the handle reversed and going foward.
This proves that I am indeed A backwards.
I have run and sold Demons for 8 years and the new ones are way more comfortable to operate, new ones have more vac to them, spray system is much improved,
the Xl models have easy to change disposable filters Classic still has the stainless filters easy to clean and put back.
The handle switches are the best i have seen since the begining.
I like the two spray jets on the XL machines it seem to give a more even spray and the carpeting seems to dry faster then before. I do not know if it is the extra vac of the jets but the carpet drys as fast and me doing VLM in many cases.
Cons
they do not give out as many faucet adapters as they used to.
IF you want to do UPH you will need to buy vac hose with the XL or a special window and hoses for the Classic.
UPH tools still are not what I would use.
If we keep getting larger commercial jobs I'll need and XL 20 also |
