An Email I received

206frosty

I found this in my email this morning.

From: mcklean1 [mcklean1@cox.net]

Don't believe all the hype with the new marketing buzz word for the SHAMPOO method.Done properly the main soil load is removed by the prevacuuming stage.The theory is that what is left is crystallized in a polymer and dries up to be vacuumed later.But in truth you will never see anything in your vac bag in the post vac to suggest you really cleaned.They call it smoke and mirrors in our industry.
Its also just an interium method like bonnet cleaning.
Your employee who frequents a chat board is in fact posting on a board where the educational content is biased toward the distributer who sells the snake oil and machines.How can you get an honest answer that way?

Yimmy strikes again

June 25 2005, 3:54 PM

The e-mail address "mcklean1@cox.net" belongs to none other than the wondrous Jimmy Ladwig (aka "YIMMY" by those who love him).

Jimmy normally responds with the word SHAMPOO shortly after any post is made on any message boards pertaining to encapsulation cleaning. Rumor has it that he has some kind of "encap" paging system linked directly to his computer. LOL

Here are a couple of things you should know about Jimmy Ladwig...

1. Jimmy has been using encapsulation longer than many. Jimmy was one of the early users of the GLS machine along with crystallizing chemistry. Jimmy used to sing the praises of encapsulation. And he still uses encapsulation in his business. Therefore his constant negative comments about encapsulation are not what he believes.

2. Jimmy has now become a basher of the encapsulation method in the public forum. Why? In the beginning he said that he didn't want everybody knowing about what was originally a little known secret. He wasn't happy to see the industry being made aware of encap by yours truly. As time went on I suspect it was more about making a response to me personally (Yimmy don't likey encapman). And sometimes it's just a matter of where his psyche lands on that particular day (Jimmy's personality kind of goes all over the place).

3. I met a supplier from Jimmy's hometown at a gathering at Shaw Industries in Dalton Ga. He was quick to tell me that Jimmy is not a full time cleaner - he referred to him as a part time cleaner. I thought that kind of explained a few things about Yimmy.

Perhaps this will help you to understand Jimmy's personality just a little bit better (trust me, you'll never understand it fully). Everyone that knows Jimmy recognizes that he's a little bit off. Yet on the other hand, he provides some comic relief for everyone too. I've even come to appreciate a few of his odd comments on occasion. He actually starts to grow on you after a while. Of course, so does a tumor

P.S. Why not ask some of the real carpet cleaners that you see around here that are using the encap system. You might even e-mail some of them privately to pick their brain a little. I think you'll find that "real life" cleaners will support the fact that encapsulation has done some remarkable things for their business.

Yimminy Cricket

You gotta wonder though, about previous experiences of real life cleaners.

I have been a firm believer of hwe for more years than I can remember.

I also was definate in my belief, that any "dry clean" method was purely cosmetic, and only an interim clean, in between the "real clean" of my t/m or portable t/m.

No method could equal my pre clean scrub with a rotary, followed by the t/m.

I was very biased.

Connections04 in Vegas, with Rick & the Cimex changed that.

Since getting my "Big Yella Mex;", I must admit that I hardly use my t/m anymore.

One manager of a large club that I have been servicing for about twenty years, even commented on how I was never able to get as good a result previously, as what I now get with the 'Mex;

& this from a person that wouldn't know how to use a screwdriver, let alone pick a cleaning system.

I admit to sometimes also feeling the same way as Yimminy, I wish no more cleaners in my city knew about the unfair advantage I now have over hwe cleaning, by using the Mex;

So now, when I get asked by the opposition, (even though we have beers together), 'how's that new machine going'?, I find myself saying, 'argh, it's ok'.

Maybe, as Rick suggests, this I Yimminy's way of protesting about the ever increasing users of encapsulation.

They're cutting into his market.

So rather than extolling the virtues of the Mex;, he cans it, and encapsulation, at every chance he gets.

Even in the shower as he shampoo's his last remaining folicles. LOL.

Cheers,

Shorty.

For many years I believed if you didn't extract with the truckmount you were not cleaning. Last night I did a commercial job that we do every 3 months. We encapped it for the first time 3 months ago and it cleaned up way better than HWE and when we were there yesturday it looked better before we started than everytime we used HWE after we were done. Keep an open mind it will help out your business. Rick was also very helpful with me.

That's especially nice to hear Dave, considering that you're using the MIGHTY Vortex truckmount to do your hot water extraction cleaning.
